Keys to Culture

Happy Fri-yay πŸŽ‰πŸ’ƒπŸŽŠ

Every Friday I celebrate something special.

This photo is from a few months back when the Peruvian Embassy hosted a special Peruvian culinary & cultural evening at the Hyatt Regency in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad.

As a language lover and lifelong language learner I can tell you that food & culture are linked to successful language acquisition!

Language is a πŸ”‘ to unlocking the culture of a foreign land.

Going shopping in the grocery or market in a foreign country is a great way to learn new vocabulary because you see the πŸˆπŸ‰πŸŽπŸ’πŸ…πŸŒΆπŸ₯‘πŸ₯•πŸŒ½ πŸ₯πŸŠπŸ‹πŸŒπŸπŸ₯πŸ₯₯ with their labels & prices so your brain can associate words with meaning.

Reading off restaurant menus if helpful too when there are accompanying photosπŸ€“

And what better way to get excited about a new language than through its culinary landscapeπŸ₯°

The typical dishes of a country give you insights into its agricultural sector & its economy.

When your eyes feast on ceviche and Pisco sour, followed by your tastebuds, I tell you it liberates the tongue to hablar espaΓ±ol.

Β‘Ay que rico!
