An attitude of gratitude!
It’s one thing to be gifted, yet quite another thing to pursue one’s dream with discipline, dedication and a crowd of supporters! IYN is, in part, a result of all the wonderful teachers who have nurtured my passion.
I’m ditching protocol and using this platform to give thanks to the teachers and mentors who supported and inspired me in hot and sweaty pursuit of my dreams every step of the way!
Thanks to the teachers who laid the foundation at Chaguanas Government Primary School: Mrs. Patasar, Mrs. Bisnath, Mr. Pundit, Mr. Subnaik and Mr. Rajnauth. Merci, gracias and thank you to my St. Augustine Girls’ High School language teachers Madame Doobay, Mrs. Gosine, Mr. Carrington, Mrs. Stewart, Mrs. Moore and Mr. Ramdath all ably led by Dr. Anna Mahase. I had extra help from some teachers in the family too… Mrs. Monica Ganpat. Merci beaucoup to the team at Alliance Française who made “extra lessons” a lot of fun. The legendary Madame Camps-Campins brought French to life!
My undergraduate studies at the University of the West Indies brought me another lot of fantastic teachers Monsieur Eric Maitrejean, Mr. Randolph Hezekiah (may he rest in peace), Dr. Beverly Carter, Dr. Elizabeth Walcott-Hackshaw, Dr. Moodie-Kublalsingh, Dr. Lancelot Cowie, y el Señor Juan Duque!
Postgraduate studies at UWI connected me with Mrs. Lyndell Salina, Ms. Carolina Freimanis and Ms. Susan Wood as well as a wonderful cohort of students who have since become “best booth buddies” at home and abroad (https://sta.uwi.edu/uwitoday/archive/april_2008/article8.asp)
L’Université de Versailles St. Quentin-en-Yvelines opened additional doors through French professors Monsieur Dauvin, Monsieur LeGavre, Monsieur Zandronis and Monsieur Tchapga.
Thanks go to my parents who encouraged me to pursue my wildest dreams! I am grateful to all these educators, cheerleaders and change agents who have sown seeds into my life. I hope they are proud of the fruit of the tree!
